Darsana Vijay

Darsana Vijay is a PhD student at the Faculty of Information, with a collaborative specialization in South Asian Studies from the Munk School, University of Toronto. Her research examines what alternative journalists, fact-checkers and civil society actors do to counter misinformation in India and how these practices are informed and impacted by the Indian state as well as platforms like Meta, Reliance Jio etc. Darsana’s work has been published in American Behavioral Scientist, Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space, and Sur Le Journalisme. In her off-screen time, she loves having deep conversations, occassionally with people, and painting alone.
